Swisslog Expands Pallet ASRS Portfolio with AgileStore 4-Way Shuttle for Flexible, High-Density Storage

AgileStore – 4-way pallet shuttle

ATLANTA – March 25, 2026 – Swisslog, a leading provider of data-driven warehouse automation technology, has expanded its automated storage and retrieval (ASRS) portfolio for pallet solutions with the introduction of AgileStore, a next-generation roaming pallet shuttle system. The 4-way shuttle is designed to maximize storage density, optimize warehouse space, and enable flexible, fully automated material flows.

Completing the Pallet ASRS Portfolio

With the launch of AgileStore, Swisslog rounds out its pallet ASRS offering, adding a roaming pallet shuttle system to complement its established PowerStore bi-directional pallet shuttle and Vectura pallet stacker crane. The new system gives warehouse operators greater flexibility in choosing automation solutions that match their specific operational needs.

Flexible, High-Performance Warehouse Automation

Unlike traditional shuttles limited to single-aisle operation, the AgileStore 4-way shuttle supports multidirectional travel—forward, backward, cross-aisle, and vertical. This capability allows each shuttle to move independently across the entire system, dramatically improving how pallet movement is managed.

The system is particularly effective in warehouse environments with irregular geometries, where traditional aisle-based systems often fall short. AgileStore enables high-density storage with dynamic access across deep lanes and mixed SKU environments—all without requiring structural modifications to existing facilities.

Roaming shuttles work in concert with integrated lift systems that transport both shuttles and pallets between racking levels, supporting efficient load transfer and storage. Each shuttle can reach any location in the system, reducing manual interventions while enabling dynamic routing and workload balancing.

System Capabilities and Applications

Swisslog has partnered with Eurofork, a proven supplier of roaming pallet shuttle technology, to bring AgileStore to market. Eurofork has already deployed multiple installations worldwide, demonstrating strong market adoption and reliable operational performance.

The AgileStore system supports a wide range of pallet types, including:

  • EURO and Industry pallets
  • CHEP Block pallets
  • CP1, CP2, and CP3 configurations
  • GMA pallets

With a load capacity of up to 1,500 kg, the system ensures safe storage and full load control across diverse product types.

Built for Ambient and Cold Storage Environments

AgileStore operates reliably in both ambient and cold storage environments, with the capability to function in temperatures as low as -30°C. This makes the system particularly well-suited for:

  • Food and beverage operations
  • Grocery distribution centers
  • Third-party logistics (3PL) providers

In cold storage applications, the system actively manages traffic, load sequencing, and pallet flow to protect temperature-sensitive goods, maintain throughput, reduce forklift travel, and minimize manual handling in harsh environments.

Software Integration and Scalable Design

AgileStore integrates seamlessly with Swisslog’s software ecosystem, providing real-time control for pallet storage and inventory visibility. The system’s control software features advanced traffic management that optimizes performance across shuttles and lifts, while storage and retrieval strategies execute through interfaces to Swisslog’s SynQ intralogistics platform or any standard warehouse management system (WMS).

The modular design is built around three core components:

  • Purpose-built racking structures
  • High-speed lifts
  • Roaming shuttles with continuous WiFi connectivity

This architecture scales readily as storage needs evolve, making AgileStore equally suited for current operational demands and future growth.

Industry Perspectives

“Warehouses today need automation systems that go beyond traditional shuttle limitations,” said Alexander Leitner, EVP Strategy & Markets at Swisslog. “The roaming pallet shuttle moves across aisles and levels, enabling efficient pallet handling and scalable performance as storage needs evolve.”

Maurizio Traversa, CEO of Eurofork, added: “With its reliable performance in both ambient and deep-freeze environments, AgileStore delivers the versatility that today’s diverse warehouse operations demand.”

Looking Ahead

With the addition of AgileStore, Swisslog now offers a comprehensive pallet ASRS portfolio that gives warehouse operators a full spectrum of automation options—from traditional stacker cranes to bi-directional and now 4-way roaming shuttle systems—all backed by proven software integration and scalable design.
